What I Do

I am a free lance kid portrait and family photographer. If that is what you were looking for, then you should be very pleased with my work. I have been shooting event photography and portraits alongside my husband, Lan Bui, since 2005. I’ve been a Sunday school teacher since 2001, and absolutely love capturing the uniqueness of any child. They’re all so beautiful and different! Child photography is definitely my favorite thing. Having great pictures of your child as they grow up is so important. You probably don’t want your kids most memorable pictures to be the same as everyone else’s “cattle call” studio shots. For about the same price, I will make them one of a kind treasures that will truly represent your family.

You just let me know what you want out of your photo session, and I will make it happen, whether it’s something we can do in studio, the comfort of your home, or any location you might have in mind.

My Goal during your photo session is to capture the best of your kid’s personality. Sometimes this can take time. I recommend setting aside at least 2 hours for the session, to make sure the child is comfortable with me taking their pictures. This time will give them the space they need to open up, if necessary, so I can get those awesome, natural shots for you.

I suggest, in order to get the most out of your photography session that you keep a few simple things in mind that can help “prep” your child for a great photo shoot.

  • Sometimes it helps if they don’t know they are going to have their picture taken. Knowing can actually stress them out. Don’t lie about it, of course, but making a big deal about it isn’t a good idea for some kids. You can bring a favorite toy so the child knows that they don’t need to behave in any special way in front of me, they can be themselves. I can follow the child as they are playing and get a lot of great pictures just from that.
  • Make sure they aren’t hungry.
  • It is oftentimes best if only one parent accompanies a child to a photo shoot. This gives the child less distractions to focus on. It obviously wouldn’t apply to family portraits. :)
  • Your props are awesome. If your child has a favorite stuffed animal, that you wouldn’t mind being in some pictures, by all means bring it along!
